Drilling mud desander and desilter

Drilling mud Desander and desilter are solids control equipment with a set of hydrocyclones that separate sand and silt from the drilling mud used on drilling rigs. KOSUN Desander is used as the 2nd stage of solids control for drilling fluids, which makes separations between 45 and 75 μm. KOSUN Desilter is used as the 3rd stage of solids control for drilling mud, which makes separations between 15 and 45 μm.

There are some main difference between Drilling mud desander and desilter as following:

1.They are in the different solids control stage. Desander is the second stage solids control equipment, desilter is in the thrid stage;

2.They have different separation size. Desander make separations between 45 and 74 μm, desilter separate solids between 15 and 45 μm;

3.They have different capacity. Desander is 113 m³/h, desilter is 11 m³/h;

4.They have different hydrocyclone size. Desander uses 10″ and 12″ hydrocyclones, desilter uses 4″ hydrocyclone.

Desander is installed on top of the mud tank following shale shaker and vacuum degasser, but before the desilter. Desilter is installed on top of the mud tank following Desander. They also can be installed completely: in this case, they are installed on one deck shaker and called mud cleaner or mud conditioner. Desander removes the abrasive solids from drilling mud which cannot be removed by shale shakers.

KOSUN is professional manufacturer for complete sets of drilling mud recycle system. The conventional equipment like shale shaker, mud cleaner, desander and desilter, vacuum degasser, decanter centrifuge, mud agitator, mud gun, centrifugal pump, screw pump, etc.
